SeaWorld is a marine life theme park located 15 minutes from downtown San Diego in Mission Bay.  Started in 1964, it remains a major tourist attraction with rides as well as the expected marine mammal shows to include the Orca Encounter  Dolphin Adventure show and the Sea Lion and Otter Spotlight.

SeaWorld has lately morphed into more of an amusement park  – though the memory of Shamu the Killer Whale, the parks most memorable iconic mascot, still lives on.  SeaWorld, meant to be a childs theme park and an aquarium who’s main focus was  introducing young minds to animal wildlife had its image and financial standing damaged by the popular 2013 documentary  titled Black Fish. The film depicted SeaWorld in an unflattering light for it’s effect in the life of Killer Whales kept in captivity. Since then, the park has underwent dramatic changes and may be one of the best amusment parks in the country due to the increase in the number of exciting rides for it’s visitors.
