Located just under 40 minutes from downtown San Diego, Carlsbad State Beach is the beach of choice for those trying to escape the crowds. Perfect for snorkling, scuba diving and surfing. This beach is not usually a destination for tourist due to the longer drive than the other San Diego Beaches. If you like a little solitude this beach is the spot. Popular for cycling and long walks (nearly 5 miles of ocean shore paths) Carlsbad State Beach has a little brother just south of it – South Carlsbad State Beach giving visitors plenty of space to spread out.
Carlsbad is known for it’s fantastic village at the town center and it’s flower fields which are open for tours. Lego Land (Childrens amusement park) is also located in Carlsbad.
Restuarants of all type line the road alongside the beach with the most known being Vigiluccis Cucina Italiana (a high end fine Italian dining restuarant).
On a typical weekday, Carlsbad beaches tend to offer a lot of solitude for those that desire it.
Sand, sea shells and less crowds (except on holidays) make this a perfect place for families with small children.
